Liam Payne’s ex-girlfriend, Danielle Peazer, has opened up about the final message she received from the late singer just weeks before his untimely death. Payne, who tragically passed away at the age of 31 on October 16 after falling several stories from a hotel balcony in Buenos Aires, left behind a touching note that Peazer now cherishes.
In an emotional Instagram post on Sunday, October 20, Peazer, 36, reflected on their relationship and the message Payne sent her regarding her family. “Receiving a message from you a couple of weeks ago expressing your happiness for the love I found with Sonny and Mia is something I’ll cherish forever,” she wrote, referring to her partner, Sonny Jay, and their daughter, Mia.
Peazer and Payne first met in 2010 during his time on The X Factor, where she worked as a backup dancer. The pair dated for over two years before parting ways, but Peazer’s post revealed the deep bond they continued to share long after their romantic relationship ended.
In her heartfelt tribute, Peazer emphasized Payne’s pride in being a father to his son, Bear, calling it his “most important role” despite all his other achievements. She also expressed sorrow for Bear, now left without his father. “The thought that there is now a child growing up without one of their parents is heartbreaking and unfair,” Peazer wrote, sending her love and strength to Payne’s family.
Addressing Payne directly, Peazer admitted his death “still doesn’t feel real” and reflected on the challenges he faced over the years. Despite their ups and downs, she was confident that Payne knew how much she cared for him. “It’s common at times like this for people to say, ‘I hope he knew how much I cared about him,’ but I know that you knew,” she said, recalling their shared honesty throughout their relationship.
Peazer fondly remembered their ability to disagree and argue, yet still remain close, describing their bond as one that lasted beyond their official breakup in 2013. “We could disagree on so many things yet still look out for each other… and laugh about our disagreements and petty behavior 10 minutes later,” she wrote.
Reflecting on Payne’s personal journey, Peazer acknowledged his struggles with self-discovery, noting that he had spent much of his life in the spotlight, giving more to the world than he needed to. “It took a little longer for you to figure out the person you wanted to be in order to be your happiest,” she added. “I wish you knew that you were always more than enough for this world without having to search for a role to play just to please others.”
Peazer concluded her moving tribute by expressing gratitude for the lessons Payne had taught her, particularly about boundaries and protecting her heart. “I’m sorry your story didn’t end differently, and I’m sorry you didn’t ever get to share more of your magic with the world,” she wrote, signing off with: “Rest easy, my friend.”
This wasn’t the first time Peazer publicly addressed Payne’s death. On October 19, she posted a brief tribute on her Instagram Stories, thanking friends and fans for their support during the difficult time, adding that their condolences “helped more than you know.”
