Jake E. Lee, former guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne, has spoken out for the first time after being shot while walking his dog in Las Vegas. The 67-year-old musician shared an update on the Red Dragon Cartel Facebook page two days after the incident, expressing gratitude for the support and revealing details about his condition.
“I deeply appreciate all the concern and well wishes. Makes everything going on a little better,” Lee wrote. “To clarify, I was shot three times. I was on my way back home from walking my dog Coco… I’m tired, but I feel relatively very lucky.”
According to Lee, Las Vegas police found 15 shell casings at the scene, suggesting the gunman had emptied his clip. Lee recounted that one bullet went through his forearm, another through his foot, and the third struck his back, breaking a rib and damaging his lung.
“Priority now is to keep draining my lung till it’s done crying. Then we can pull that tube out and concentrate on the more minor injuries,” he added.
Fortunately, Lee’s dog, Coco, was unharmed in the attack. “Coco’s fine and appreciates your inquiries!” he reassured fans.
Las Vegas police have stated they do not believe Lee was specifically targeted in the shooting, which took place around 2:45 a.m. local time. No arrests have been made, but Lee’s representative confirmed that he is expected to make a full recovery.
Osbourne, 75, reacted to the news, telling TMZ: “It’s been 37 years since I’ve seen Jake E. Lee, but that still doesn’t take away from the shock of hearing what happened to him. It’s just another senseless act of gun violence.”
“I send my thoughts to him and his beautiful daughter, Jade. I just hope he’ll be OK,” Osbourne added.
Jake E. Lee, who became a prominent figure in the music scene during the 1980s as Osbourne’s guitarist, went on to form the band Badlands in 1988 with fellow Black Sabbath members Ray Gillen and Eric Singer. He later founded the Red Dragon Cartel in 2013, releasing albums in 2014 and 2018.
