Grammy-nominated musician Tori Amos is set to captivate young readers with her first children’s book, Tori and the Muses, which aims to explore the boundless world of creativity. Published by Penguin Workshop, the book will be released on March 4, 2025, inviting children to find inspiration in unexpected places.
The book, illustrated by Demelsa Haughton, introduces readers to a young Tori guided by 11 muses, who have shaped her creative journey since childhood. Through their guidance, Tori learns that inspiration can be found everywhere—even when life feels challenging. In the story, the muses help her reconnect with her passion for music as she navigates her father’s expectations and music recitals.
In a statement, Amos shared that she was motivated to write the book to inspire readers to seek out their own creativity. “The muses allowed me to escape the concrete boundaries around me and helped me find a space to create without fear,” she explained. “They are available to everyone, waiting to guide you to a world of imagination, free from distractions.”
Amos, who previously authored the 2020 bestseller Resistance: A Songwriter’s Story of Hope, Change, and Courage, hopes her new book will encourage families to discover creativity together. “It’s really about finding inspiration,” she said in a recent Instagram post. “I’d love for kids and their families to walk away inspired to create and explore their own passions.”
Tori and the Muses is available for preorder now, ahead of its March 2025 release.
