Neil Patrick Harris and David Burtka joyfully celebrated their twins’ milestone birthday on October 12, as Harper Grace and Gideon Scott turned 14. The proud parents took to social media to share heartfelt tributes, reflecting on their children’s growth and maturity.
In an Instagram post, Harris expressed immense pride in his twins, describing them as “amazeballs.” He stated, “I have never been more proud of anything in my entire life, and I suspect I never will.” Harris praised their warmth and charm, adding, “Their hugs fill us with life.” He humorously noted that while he wouldn’t share these sentiments directly with them for fear of their reaction, he felt free to express his feelings online since the twins are not active on Instagram.
Burtka also shared a touching tribute, featuring a carousel of black-and-white photos of the family. “Happy 14th Birthday to our incredible kid[s],” he wrote, emphasizing their development into “the best humans.” He acknowledged the challenges of teenage years but commended their resilience, saying, “If you put the work in, you get it back.” Burtka reflected on the future and cherished the moments when his children still seek connection.
The couple, who began dating in 2004 and married in 2014, often share glimpses of family life online. In a previous post from June, Harris reminisced about a memorable Spring Break trip to France with the family, showcasing joyful moments spent together.
In February, the couple spoke to PEOPLE about navigating parenting with their then-13-year-olds. Harris described the twins as surprisingly mature city kids, while Burtka noted that their home is not yet a “hangout house” due to the rigorous demands of their school. However, he remarked that they are often told they are the “coolest parents” among their children’s friends.
As the twins embark on their teenage years, Harris and Burtka remain dedicated to instilling values and supporting their children as they navigate the complexities of adolescence.
