Finn Wolfhard, the actor known for his role as Mike Wheeler in Netflix’s acclaimed series Stranger Things, has expressed his disbelief that the beloved show is approaching its conclusion. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, the 21-year-old actor shared his thoughts on the final season and the memorabilia he hopes to keep from the set.
Wolfhard revealed a specific prop he considers “very meaningful”: the first Dungeons & Dragons Demogorgon piece he dramatically slammed on the table during a pivotal scene in the show’s inaugural season. “I think it would be really cool to keep,” he said of the cherished item. Additionally, he expressed his fondness for another iconic element of the series: the bikes used by the characters. “The bikes are amazing,” he noted, emphasizing their significance to the storyline.
Stranger Things, set in 1980s Indiana, follows a group of children as they battle supernatural forces and uncover government conspiracies. Although Netflix has yet to unveil the official plot for Season 5, fans can anticipate the Hawkins kids continuing their fight against the villainous Vecna, portrayed by Jamie Campbell Bower, after the Upside Down threatens their town.
Alongside Wolfhard, the cast includes Millie Bobby Brown, Noah Schnapp, Gaten Matarazzo, Sadie Sink, Joe Keery, Maya Hawke, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Brett Gelman, David Harbour, and Winona Ryder. In an exciting addition, Netflix announced in June 2023 that Terminator star Linda Hamilton would be joining the cast for the series’ final season.
Production for Season 5 officially began in January, and in July, Netflix confirmed that filming was halfway completed. Wolfhard shared, “We’re almost done shooting. It’s going great, and it has been unbelievable. It’s been very special.” He expressed appreciation for the camaraderie among the cast as they wrap up the series, describing the experience as “surreal.”
As fans eagerly await the fifth and final season, no release date has been announced. All four previous seasons of Stranger Things are currently available for streaming on Netflix.
