Maggie Baird, mother to musical siblings Billie Eilish and Finneas, recently shared fond memories of her family’s Halloween traditions, highlighting her children’s enthusiasm for the holiday. Speaking with PEOPLE at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards on October 8, Baird, 65, recounted hosting elaborate Halloween parties at their Los Angeles home when her kids were young.
“My kids are honestly obsessed with Halloween,” she revealed, describing how they transformed their garage into a haunted house, complete with “feely boxes” and donuts on a string from the local, plant-based shop Donut Friend. Baird, who was being honored at the event as part of Glamour’s 2024 Women of the Year issue, said Halloween festivities were a big part of Billie and Finneas’ childhood in Highland Park.
Baird was celebrated alongside other notable moms, including Tina Knowles and Donna Kelce. She shared that her children surprised her with flowers upon the magazine cover’s release. “I was sort of shocked. I didn’t even tell them about it,” she admitted, describing how she prefers to keep a low profile despite her career as an actress and comedian.
A passionate advocate for sustainable living, Baird wore an outfit made from recycled materials by SUAY and sustainable shoes from Stella McCartney. She remains committed to environmental issues through her organization Support + Feed, which she founded in 2020 to address food insecurity and climate change.
