Rex Linn and Reba McEntire are undeniably the sweetest couple on the set of Happy’s Place. In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE during NBC’s Comedies celebration, Linn opened up about the joys of filming alongside his longtime girlfriend.
Melissa Peterman, Linn’s co-star, couldn’t help but gush over the couple’s chemistry. “It’s adorable to see them share little moments together while filming,” she noted. Peterman described how the couple often seems like they are on a date, recalling, “During breaks or at meals, you look over and see them in a booth at the bar, just sitting together and being so cute.”
Despite their affectionate interactions, Peterman emphasized the couple’s professionalism on set. “The minute we get back to work, they’re all business,” she said, adding that Linn is often seen helping McEntire run her lines.
Linn himself acknowledged the playful balance between work and romance, saying, “We’re running lines constantly, but every once in a while, I’ll sneak by for a quick kiss—a peck on the cheek—and keep moving. It’s fun.”
Reflecting on their relationship, McEntire and Linn have known each other since 1991, but it wasn’t until the pandemic that their friendship blossomed into romance. McEntire shared that their connection deepened after the loss of her mother, leading them to talk via Zoom and FaceTime multiple times a day during the quarantine. “We created a bond and intimacy that allowed us to get to know each other without being physical,” she explained.
Although McEntire had reservations about finding love again after her 2015 divorce from music manager Narvel Blackstock, she expressed her happiness with Linn. “He’s the love of my life,” she declared. “We’re pretty much inseparable.”
