In a generous act of support for communities affected by recent storms, Taylor Swift has made a significant $5 million donation to relief efforts for Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton.
Feeding America announced the contribution on their Instagram account on Wednesday, October 9, expressing deep gratitude for Swift’s philanthropy. Claire Babineaux-Fontenot, the CEO of Feeding America, stated, “We’re incredibly grateful to Taylor Swift for her generous $5 million donation to Hurricane Helene and Milton relief efforts. This contribution will help communities rebuild and recover, providing essential food, clean water, and supplies to people affected by these devastating storms.”
The organization highlighted Swift’s commitment to the fight against hunger, adding, “Together, we can make a real impact in supporting families as they navigate the challenges ahead. Thank you, Taylor, for standing with us in the movement to end hunger and for helping communities in need.” In their post, Feeding America encouraged others to join Swift in making donations.
Hurricane Milton, which is projected to make landfall on Wednesday night, is anticipated to be the most costly disaster in Florida’s history. After initially reaching Category 5 status with winds exceeding 160 mph, it has since weakened to Category 3. The National Hurricane Center has warned that Milton could bring “life-threatening” hazards to the central and southern Florida coastline, particularly in the Tampa Bay area.
Meanwhile, Hurricane Helene has already caused significant destruction, with reports indicating a death toll of 227 and many individuals still unaccounted for.
This isn’t the first time Swift has stepped up during a crisis. In December 2022, she donated $1 million to the Tennessee Emergency Response Fund following deadly tornadoes that struck the state. Earlier this year, during her U.K. Eras Tour, Swift contributed to local food banks, providing over 10,000 meals to those in need.
