In a heartfelt appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show on October 8, Ciara opened up about her first date with husband Russell Wilson, revealing that it was love at first sight for the couple. The singer, 38, recounted how she immediately recognized Wilson as “the one” during their initial meeting.
“When you know, you know,” Ciara stated confidently. The Grammy winner reminisced about their first date, saying, “From day one, we sat down, we talked. It’s so funny, ‘cause we always laugh about the first time we met. We were talking too long and having such a good time in such great conversation that we forgot to eat.”
After leaving the restaurant, the couple’s feelings became clear. Ciara shared a memorable moment when Wilson confided in his friend in the elevator, declaring, “She’s the one.” The sentiment was mutual. “I called my best friend, Yolie, who’s my matron of honor and my makeup artist for legitimately 24 years,” Ciara recalled. “I said, ‘Yolie, I don’t want to jinx anything, but I think…’ And she goes, ‘He’s the one?’ And I go, ‘Yes.’”
Previously engaged to rapper Future, with whom she shares a son, Future Zahir, Ciara wasted no time introducing Wilson to her family. Shortly after their first date, she brought him home to meet her father, Carlton Harris, and her son. “We were all in the house together. My dad was in the living room, Future was crawling on the floor, and there was a silver chair in the kitchen that was about to fall,” she explained.
In a moment of heroism, Wilson “slid across that kitchen, so smooth, and caught that chair,” Ciara said, adding, “I was like, ‘Oh, OK.’ I mean, it was pretty sexy, but it was pretty cute.”
The couple tied the knot on July 6, 2016, and now share three children: daughters Amora Princess and Sienna Princess, along with son Win Harrison. Ciara praised Wilson for his commitment to family life, stating, “He always has been, since day one, one to jump in and be about that life. He goes to the teacher-parent conferences. He’s into every detail, making sure the sports, gymnastics, and everything is lined up.”
