Richard Gere and his wife, Alejandra Silva, made a stylish appearance at the Zurich Film Festival, celebrating the premiere of Gere’s new project, Wisdom of Happiness. The couple walked the green carpet on October 8, where the Golden Globe-winning actor and his wife attended the 20th edition of the festival at Corso in Zurich, Switzerland.
Dressed in a classic black suit with a crisp white shirt and black bow tie, the Shall We Dance? star, 75, stood beside Silva, 41, who wore an elegant cream and silver sleeveless gown with layered details. The two posed together for photos before heading into the event.
Wisdom of Happiness, co-directed by Swiss filmmakers Barbara Miller and Philip Delaquis, features Gere as an executive producer. According to the Zurich Film Festival website, the film presents the Dalai Lama addressing the audience on why the 21st century should embrace compassion as a guiding principle, promising a “meditative cinematic experience” with rare archival footage from the Tibetan government.
This glamorous outing marks the second red carpet appearance in recent weeks for the couple, who wed in 2018. In September, they also attended the 81st Venice International Film Festival, where Gere was honored with amfAR’s Award of Inspiration. The couple switched up their looks for the Wolfs premiere later that evening.
In addition to his film festival circuit appearances, Gere recently marked the 25th anniversary of Runaway Bride. While discussing his career during a masterclass at the Venice Film Festival, he reflected on his unexpected success with Pretty Woman, despite claiming he and co-star Julia Roberts had “no chemistry” during filming. He reminisced about working on the 1990 romantic comedy, saying, “This is a movie, a very small movie… We didn’t know if anyone would ever see this little tiny movie.” Pretty Woman went on to earn $463.4 million at the box office, solidifying Gere’s place in Hollywood history.
