Perry Farrell, lead singer of Jane’s Addiction, was seen walking his dogs in Santa Monica, California, on September 27, marking his first public appearance since a controversial onstage incident that led to the cancellation of the band’s reunion tour.
The outing with his wife, Etty Lau Farrell, comes after a September 13 performance at Boston’s Leader Bank Pavilion, where Farrell threw a punch at guitarist Dave Navarro during the band’s rendition of “Ocean Size” from their iconic 1988 album, Nothing’s Shocking. Video footage from the show captured the heated moment, as Farrell shouted at Navarro, ultimately charging at him and landing a punch before concert staff intervened.
In the wake of the altercation, Jane’s Addiction issued a public apology and announced the cancellation of upcoming tour dates. “We want to extend a heartfelt apology to our fans for the events that unfolded last night,” the band stated.
Etty Farrell took to Instagram the following day to provide her perspective on the incident, describing escalating tension among band members and detailing her husband’s frustrations with the performance conditions, including overwhelming stage volume and his ongoing struggles with tinnitus. She noted that audience complaints had intensified the situation, leading to Farrell’s outburst.
On September 16, the band confirmed via social media that they would be canceling the remainder of their reunion tour, stating, “To all the fans, the band have made the difficult decision to take some time away as a group.” Ticket holders were directed to seek refunds through their original point of purchase.
