In a candid discussion on the September 25 episode of I Do, Part 2, actress and singer Jana Kramer opened up about the financial ramifications of her divorce from ex-husband Mike Caussin and her current efforts to secure a prenup with her new fiancé, Allan Russell.
Kramer, 40, revealed that she lost nearly half of her wealth during her divorce from Caussin, primarily due to the absence of a prenup. “In my last marriage, to my husband of almost seven years, I did not have him sign a prenup,” she explained. “To me, it was, ‘This is my one, forever, and we’re getting married.'”
The situation changed drastically after Caussin’s infidelity. During his rehab, Kramer made him sign a postnuptial agreement, but she later learned that it “did not hold up in court.” While navigating the divorce proceedings, her attorney informed her that postnups typically carry less weight than prenups, prompting Kramer to create a detailed spreadsheet outlining what she considered fair. However, she noted, “He was ready to fight it,” and added that she was responsible for paying child support as well.
Now engaged to Russell, Kramer described a difficult conversation with her lawyers regarding the importance of a prenup. “It was like getting health insurance,” she recalled, admitting, “It’s a really hard conversation to have.” Despite her reluctance, she acknowledged the financial lessons from her past marriage: “I lost almost half of my money in my last divorce—money that I worked really hard for.”
When discussing the prenup with Russell, he responded affirmatively, stating, “I will sign it if you want me to sign it.” Kramer reflected on the emotional weight of the discussion but refrained from disclosing their ultimate decision.
Kramer filed for divorce from Caussin, 37, in 2021, citing adultery and inappropriate marital conduct. They share two children, daughter Jolie Rae, born in January 2016, and son Jace Joseph, born in November 2018. Since finalizing their divorce, both have expressed pride in their co-parenting relationship. “We’re doing a really good job, and I’m really proud of how we’re able to co-parent,” she shared in 2023.
In addition to her personal revelations, Kramer recently released her latest single, “Warrior,” on September 13, which she dedicated to Russell. “I just wanted to write him a song to basically be like, ‘Thank you for just being the most wonderful man and for coming into my life,'” she said. The couple welcomed a son, Roman, in November 2023, marking a new chapter in Kramer’s life. “I’ve been in crisis mode for so many years, and now I get to be happy and have love in my life, and it’s a beautiful place to be,” she concluded.
