Kelsea Ballerini turned heads at the 2024 People’s Choice Country Awards held at the Grand Ole Opry House on September 26, dazzling in a stunning Roberto Cavalli gown designed to resemble a sunflower. The award-winning country singer, nominated for four accolades at the event, was joined by her boyfriend, Chase Stokes, the star of Netflix’s Outer Banks, who couldn’t take his eyes off her.
The couple showcased their style on the red carpet, with Ballerini accessorizing her vibrant gown with statement earrings and sleek hair. Stokes complemented her look with a relaxed brown suit and croc-embossed boots, marking them as one of the evening’s most fashionable pairs.
During the pre-show, Ballerini teased a dramatic performance of her upcoming single “Two Things,” hinting at a visually captivating presentation featuring sunflowers and elements inspired by New York City. “It will be a lot of sunflowers, a lot of New York, a lot of drama, baby,” she promised.
Ballerini, now 31, reflected on the themes of her new album, PATTERNS, which explores the relational dynamics she has navigated. “When you’re in a good relationship, it really mirrors you, so you have to really assess yourself and then the other person, vice versa,” she explained.
The singer is competing for the title of Female Artist of 2024 against industry heavyweights including Beyoncé, Dolly Parton, and Lainey Wilson. Additionally, she is nominated for Social Country Star of 2024 and Crossover Song of 2024 for her collaboration with Noah Kahan on “Cowboys Cry Too.”
The awards ceremony, hosted by Shania Twain, features an impressive lineup of performers, including Brad Paisley, Machine Gun Kelly, Kane Brown, and Miranda Lambert, among others. Presenters for the event include Carly Pearce, Dan + Shay, and Little Big Town.
Ballerini and Stokes’ appearance comes shortly after the couple made a splash at the Los Angeles premiere of Doctor Odyssey on September 18. At that event, Ballerini impressed in a silky, scaly gown, complete with a playful goldfish bowl-shaped purse. As she prepares for her acting debut in the ABC series, Ballerini admitted to feeling nervous but found reassurance in Stokes’ support. “He helped me prep my lines… and by the end of the conversation, I was like, ‘Okay, so you’ll run the scene with me?’ And he was like, ‘Yeah, let’s do it,’” she shared.
As the night unfolded at the People’s Choice Country Awards, all eyes will be on Ballerini as she embraces both her musical and acting aspirations.
