Tony Danza recently enjoyed a heartfelt reunion with his “forever TV daughter,” Alyssa Milano, as they commemorated the 40th anniversary of their iconic sitcom, Who’s the Boss? Milano surprised Danza during one of his performances in New York City.
On September 23, Danza, 73, took to Instagram to share a touching photo of himself and Milano, 51, after his sold-out show, Sinatra & Stories, at Café Carlyle on September 18. In the post, he affectionately referred to Milano as his “forever TV daughter” and expressed gratitude for her support. “Love you @milano_alyssa and thank you for being there for me,” he wrote.
Excited about Milano’s upcoming Broadway role as Roxie Hart in Chicago, Danza added, “I’m coming to see you in @chicagomusical on Broadway!!!!! Can’t wait!!”
Milano echoed Danza’s sentiments in her own Instagram post, labeling him as her “forever TV Dad.” She praised his performance, noting, “He sang, played his uke, and danced. And damn…I’m so blessed to witness the joy that emanates off him when he performs. Love you, T.”
The reunion took place just days after the 40th anniversary of Who’s the Boss?, which premiered on September 20, 1984. The beloved sitcom, which ran for eight seasons, followed the life of Tony Micelli (played by Danza), a single father and former professional baseball player who becomes a live-in housekeeper for ad executive Angela Robinson Bower (Judith Light). Milano played Tony’s daughter, Samantha, starting her television career at the age of 11.
Reflecting on her time on the show, Milano spoke with PEOPLE at a recent press event, saying, “No one else understands that experience but us. It was a really special cast.” She emphasized the familial bond formed during the show’s eight-year run, sharing that it greatly influenced her development as a woman.
Danny Pintauro, another Who’s the Boss? co-star, also celebrated the show’s anniversary on social media, declaring September 20th as “Who’s the Boss? Day.” He shared a video with the show’s theme song playing in the background, wishing everyone a happy anniversary for the beloved series.
As the Who’s the Boss? legacy continues to resonate with fans, Danza and Milano’s reunion highlights the enduring connections forged through their iconic roles and the memories that continue to bring joy to their lives.
