Donna Kelce, the devoted mother of Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, attended the premiere of his new FX series Grotesquerie in New York City on September 23. At 71, she continues to show unwavering support for her sons, stepping in to celebrate Travis’s big night, despite his absence due to a recent game.
Travis’s team secured a 22-17 victory over the Atlanta Falcons just a day prior, allowing Donna to represent him at the Spring Studios event. The series, created by Ryan Murphy and featuring actress Niecy Nash-Betts as Detective Lois Tryon, is set to premiere its first two episodes on September 25.
The show revolves around Detective Tryon, who faces a series of gruesome crimes in her small town that resonate personally. While managing her own struggles—strained relationships with her daughter (Raven Goodwin) and a husband in long-term care—Lois seeks help from Sister Megan (Micaela Diamond), a nun with a troubled past who believes in humanity’s potential for good.
As the two women delve deeper into the mystery, they become entangled in a web of darkness that raises more questions than answers. Additional cast members include Lesley Manville as Nurse Redd, Nicholas Alexander Chavez as Father Charlie, and Courtney B. Vance as Lois’s husband, Marshall Tryon.
While specific details about Travis’s character remain under wraps, Chavez previously praised the NFL star, describing him as a professional who handled the material impressively. “He’s awesome. He’s a friendly and cool guy,” Chavez noted.
An insider revealed that Nash-Betts had a great time working with Travis, saying, “She just adores him.” Nash-Betts echoed this sentiment, calling Travis “very professional” and “always prepared” on set. She appreciated his openness to feedback, recalling, “He was very receptive. I love that he didn’t come in trying to act like, ‘I know everything and I know it all.'”
As the premiere date approaches, Nash-Betts expressed her belief that fans will find Travis charming in his new role, hinting at an exciting performance ahead.
