Cheryl Hines was photographed without her wedding ring during a recent outing in Milan, just a day after reports emerged about her husband, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., allegedly having a “personal relationship” with campaign reporter Olivia Nuzzi.
The 59-year-old actress, known for her role in Curb Your Enthusiasm, attended a Milan Fashion Week afterparty on September 20. In photos obtained by the Daily Mail, Hines was seen wearing a stylish satin top, tailored trousers, and a leather jacket, but notably absent was her wedding band.
This appearance came just before Hines’ birthday on September 21, which she celebrated on social media with posts that did not include Kennedy, 70.
On September 19, New York magazine reported that Kennedy was involved in a “personal relationship” with Nuzzi, prompting her to be placed on leave. The magazine’s note to readers explained that the relationship was a conflict of interest and that had they known, Nuzzi would not have continued her coverage of the 2024 presidential campaign.
In a statement to PEOPLE, Nuzzi, 31, acknowledged that the nature of her communication with Kennedy had turned personal but insisted that she did not report on him or use him as a source during that time. “The relationship was never physical but should have been disclosed to prevent the appearance of a conflict,” she stated. “I deeply regret not doing so immediately and apologize to those I’ve disappointed, especially my colleagues at New York.”
Kennedy’s representative responded to the allegations, stating to The Washington Post that Kennedy had only met Nuzzi once for an interview regarding her November 2023 article titled “The Mind-Bending Politics of RFK Jr.’s Spoiler Campaign.” The spokesperson described the meeting as yielding a “hit piece.”
As the couple navigates these allegations, Hines’ recent public appearance has drawn attention, signaling potential strain in their relationship amidst the unfolding controversy.
