Rapper Megan Thee Stallion is gearing up for a fashion-packed night as she takes on the hosting duties at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards on September 11. Alongside her hosting role, the 29-year-old Grammy winner will also perform during the star-studded event.
In an exclusive interview with PEOPLE, Megan shared her excitement about the upcoming gig. “I’m excited to change clothes 500 times. I’m excited to perform. I’m excited to see all the Hotties,” she said, referring to her devoted fanbase. “I love New York, I can’t wait to be there again and eat all the food, and I’m excited for people to see what I bring to the table while hosting.”
Megan takes over the hosting reins from Nicki Minaj, who hosted the VMAs for the past two years. With five nominations under her belt, including Best Collaboration for “Wanna Be” with GloRilla, as well as Best Hip-Hop, Best Visual Effects, Best Direction, and Best Art Direction for “Boa,” it’s set to be a big night for the “Savage” star.
The rapper also touched on her recent partnership with Pepsi, which features her in a commercial alongside NFL stars like Travis Kelce and Josh Allen. “This is a very iconic moment for me,” Megan shared. “I’m like, ‘OK, now you all better stop acting like I’m not famous around here because I’m doing all the things.’ This is going to be so iconic, and it’s going to be great. I can’t wait for everybody to see it.”
The 2024 MTV VMAs is packed with high-profile performances, including appearances by Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, Eminem, and Ariana Grande, among others. Katy Perry will be honored with the prestigious Video Vanguard Award and is set to perform a medley of her greatest hits.
The show will air live from UBS Arena in New York on September 11 at 8 p.m. ET.
