On Sunday, September 8, Owens, a safety for the Bears, made a remarkable play during their game against the Tennessee Titans. In a standout moment, the 29-year-old Owens recovered a blocked punt and dashed into the end zone, scoring his first touchdown with the team.
Biles, 27, took to X (formerly Twitter) to express her excitement over the play. Reacting to the touchdown, she tweeted, “I ALMOST HAD A HEART ATTACK,” in response to Sunday Night Football’s post highlighting Owens’ big play.
Sunday Night Football on NBC had earlier praised Owens’ achievement, posting, “Jonathan Owens scoop and score on the blocked punt! How ya feeling, @Simone_Biles? 😏.”
Owens’ touchdown was pivotal, cutting the Titans’ lead from 17-3 to 17-10 in the third quarter. The Bears eventually secured a 24-17 victory over the Titans.
Scoring a touchdown is a rare feat for a safety, making this moment even more thrilling for both Owens and Biles. Throughout their relationship, the couple has consistently supported each other’s athletic endeavors.
In an interview with PEOPLE in July, Owens expressed his admiration for Biles’ dedication. “It’s super exciting just because I get a chance to see all the work that she puts in prior to, and you know what? Everything she goes through and dealing with the media and everything, and she still goes out there and does it,” he said.
He praised her consistency and training mindset, adding, “That’s the biggest thing is how consistent.”
