The ‘Star Wars’ icon is joined by wife Marilou York and daughter Chelsea for the film’s grand debut.

Mark Hamill made the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) a family affair on Sunday, stepping out with his wife, Marilou York, and their daughter, Chelsea, for the world premiere of his new animated feature, The Wild Robot. The event, held at Roy Thomson Hall, showcased Hamill’s latest venture, and his family was right by his side for the special occasion.

Hamill, 72, and York, who have been married since 1978, share three grown children: Nathan, Griffin, and Chelsea. While Hamill is widely recognized for his iconic portrayal of Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise, this red-carpet appearance was all about his role in The Wild Robot, a family-friendly film set to be released later this month.

Directed by Chris Sanders, The Wild Robot tells the story of ROZZUM unit 7134—commonly known as Roz—who becomes stranded on a desolate island. Forced to adapt to her surroundings, Roz builds connections with the island’s wildlife and eventually becomes a surrogate mother to an orphaned gosling. The film boasts a stellar voice cast, including Lupita Nyong’o, Pedro Pascal, Catherine O’Hara, Bill Nighy, Kit Connor, Stephanie Hsu, Matt Berry, and Ving Rhames.

Hamill’s presence at TIFF wasn’t limited to just The Wild Robot. He also attended the world premiere of The Life of Chuck, based on a Stephen King short story. Hamill shared his enthusiasm about sitting beside King during the screening, posting on Instagram, “It’s not often I’m seated next to a literary genius & one of my all-time favorite authors: Stephen King.”

Off the big screen, Hamill is known for expressing his love and admiration for his wife. Earlier this year, he paid tribute to York on her birthday, writing on social media, “Marilou, you are my forever dream & are younger in spirit today than when I first met you.” The couple will celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary this December.

The Wild Robot is set to hit theaters on Sept. 27, promising a heartwarming tale of survival and unlikely friendships.
