The father of NFL star Travis Kelce and pop sensation Taylor Swift were seen enjoying the game together as the Chiefs took on the Baltimore Ravens.
Ed Kelce and Taylor Swift were spotted enjoying a lighthearted moment during the Kansas City Chiefs’ season opener on Thursday night, as they watched Travis Kelce prepare for his first game of the NFL season.
Seated together in a luxury box, Kelce and Swift were caught on NBC’s broadcast sharing laughs as they observed the game below. Travis, the Chiefs’ star tight end, was warming up on the field as his father and Swift took in the sights.
In another moment, the two were seen standing side by side, with Ed smiling as Swift playfully gave a thumbs-up to nearby fans, further cementing her growing presence at NFL games this season.
This isn’t the first time Ed Kelce and Swift have been seen together. Back in October, the two shared a similar moment during the Chiefs’ victory over the Denver Broncos. In an interview with PEOPLE shortly after, Ed expressed his admiration for the pop star, describing her as “very genuine” after noticing her taking the initiative to clean up trash in the suite they shared.
“I’m just thinking, I don’t think she got the diva memo,” Ed joked. “She didn’t get the spoiled musician [attitude]. She doesn’t know how to pull that off. And that really, to me, said a whole lot.”
He added, “She’s very smart. I mean, very. That comes through right away.”
Despite their growing rapport, Ed admitted that he didn’t initially recognize Swift when they first met. In a candid retelling of their introduction, he shared, “Taylor walks in with a security guy, and I look at her, and I say [to my girlfriend], ‘Oh my God! I know this kid, but I don’t know what her name is.’ Jeez, you know, like a real idiot. And [my girlfriend] says, ‘You don’t know her? This is Taylor Swift, you idiot.’”
As the NFL season heats up, the Chiefs are set to face the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday, September 15, where Travis Kelce will continue to be a focal point on the field, with his dad and Swift potentially cheering him on once again from the stands.
