Los Angeles — Pop sensation Taylor Swift shared her emotional journey on Wednesday, revealing the “fear” and “guilt” she experienced after canceling her Vienna concerts due to a thwarted attack plot. The announcement follows a critical security breach that led to the cancellation of three scheduled shows at the Ernst Happel Stadium.

Swift took to Instagram to express her gratitude towards the authorities who successfully neutralized the threat, stating, “Thanks to them, we were grieving concerts and not lives.” This marked her first public statement on the issue, reflecting on the intense emotions surrounding the cancellation.

The singer described the decision to cancel the Vienna shows as “devastating,” citing the cancellation’s impact on her and her fans. She conveyed a profound sense of fear and remorse for the disruption caused to those who had eagerly anticipated the events.

Addressing her previous silence, Swift emphasized her intent to avoid any actions that might inadvertently incite further threats. “Let me be very clear: I am not going to speak about something publicly if I think doing so might provoke those who would want to harm the fans who come to my shows,” she wrote. “In cases like this one, ‘silence’ is actually showing restraint.”

Swift’s European tour, part of her record-breaking Eras Tour, concluded safely in London, where the final dates were held without incident. The tour, which is the highest-grossing concert tour in history, is currently on a scheduled break. It is set to resume with final performances in the United States and Canada from October to December.
