Greta Lee Channels ‘90s Nostalgia in Calvin Klein’s Latest Campaign

Greta Lee, acclaimed for her roles in Past Lives and nominated for both Emmy and Golden Globe awards, steps into the spotlight as the new face of Calvin Klein. In her debut campaign for the iconic American brand, Lee showcases a striking blend of modern elegance and ‘90s-inspired fashion.

The campaign, which captures the essence of a New York autumn, highlights Lee modeling Calvin Klein’s signature denim and underwear collections. The actress joins an illustrious roster of Calvin Klein ambassadors, including Jennie Kim and Jeremy Allen White.

“It feels incredibly surreal to be part of a Calvin Klein campaign,” Lee shared with InStyle. “My sister and I grew up admiring the brand, dreaming of wearing that CK logo. To be here now is truly unbelievable.”

Lee’s favorite piece from the new collection is the ‘90s Straight Jean, which she describes as both versatile and comfortable. “These jeans are perfect for everyday wear—they strike the ideal balance between casual and sensual,” she added.

The Fall 2024 collection also features updates to Calvin Klein’s renowned underwear line. The Modern Cotton Air collection now includes a modal blend with mesh lining for enhanced comfort, while the Sheer Marquisette capsule introduces intricate stretch lace. For those preferring a more understated look, the new underwear options include a tonal logo that subtly nods to the brand’s iconic style.

Styled by former Vogue Paris editor Emmanuelle Alt and photographed by Mert Alas, the campaign is set to The Go-Go’s hit “We Got the Beat.” It evokes a nostalgic homage to classic Calvin Klein ads, reminiscent of the iconic black-and-white images of Mark Wahlberg and Kate Moss from 1992, and Brooke Shields’s 1980 denim campaign.

“This campaign is deeply meaningful to me,” Lee reflected. “It allowed me to express a side of myself I haven’t shown before. Working with Mert and the Calvin Klein team, and being dressed almost entirely in underwear, I embraced a newfound confidence and empowerment. It was a profoundly emotional and rewarding experience.”

Lee’s collaboration with Calvin Klein coincides with another significant development for the brand. In May, Veronica Leoni was appointed as the first female creative director in Calvin Klein’s history. With an impressive background including roles at Jil Sander, Céline under Phoebe Philo, and the Row, Leoni’s appointment has generated excitement about the potential revitalization of Calvin Klein’s presence at New York Fashion Week.

“Calvin Klein has long represented bold self-expression,” Leoni stated. “I am committed to continuing and empowering this legacy.”
