Rep. Jasmine Crockett, a prominent Democrat from Texas, delivered a scathing critique of former President Donald Trump at the Democratic National Convention, contrasting his record with that of Vice President Kamala Harris.
Crockett, who gained national attention earlier this year for her fiery exchange with Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) during a congressional hearing, used her convention speech to underscore her point. She portrayed Harris as a symbol of the American Dream, while branding Trump as a representation of “America’s nightmare.”
“In stark contrast to one candidate who worked at McDonald’s while attending an HBCU,” Crockett remarked, “the other was born into privilege and contributed to a legacy of housing discrimination alongside his father.”
Crockett didn’t hold back in her criticism of Trump, describing him as a “career criminal” with “34 felonies, two impeachments, and one scandal involving a porn star.”
Her speech also echoed the tensions from her previous encounter with Greene, which had sparked widespread attention. During that confrontation, Greene made disparaging remarks about Crockett’s appearance, questioning her focus and commenting on her makeup.
In a sharp retort, Crockett implied Greene’s comments in a later, widely circulated t-shirt, playfully referencing Greene’s appearance and behavior with the phrase, “talking about somebody’s bleach blond bad built butch body.”
