In a candid revelation, Rachel Lindsay, former star of The Bachelorette, shared a humorous anecdote about an encounter with The Real Housewives of New Jersey star Teresa Giudice. During BravoCon 2022 in New York, Giudice mistook Lindsay for pop sensation Rihanna, leading to an amusing exchange.
Lindsay, 39, recounted the incident on a recent episode of The Ringer Reality TV Podcast. “Teresa thought I was Rihanna,” Lindsay said, laughing. “She actually screamed when she saw me.” Giudice, 52, appeared to have confused Lindsay with another black celebrity, but Lindsay took the mix-up in stride.
“She was being very genuine when she made the mistake,” Lindsay noted. “As soon as she realized, she corrected herself.” Lindsay described how the mix-up occurred behind the scenes at BravoCon, where Giudice believed Rihanna was hosting the panel she was scheduled to attend. Although Lindsay had previously interviewed Giudice with Extra, it seems the reality star’s familiarity led her to mistakenly identify Lindsay as the renowned singer.
The amusing moment turned into a lighthearted joke between the two. “Whenever we see each other, I remind her of the incident,” Lindsay said with a smile. “She calls me ‘Rihanna,’ and we laugh about it.”
The confusion isn’t entirely far-fetched, considering Rihanna’s strong affinity for Bravo. In March 2022, Rihanna praised Giudice’s dedication as a mother during an interview with Elle. “Teresa from Jersey does not play about her kids,” Rihanna remarked, aligning with Giudice’s fierce maternal instincts.
Rihanna, who gave birth to her and A$AP Rocky’s first child, son RZA, in May 2022, later welcomed their second son, Riot, in August 2023. The singer announced her pregnancy with Riot during her Super Bowl performance earlier that year.
Following the birth of RZA, Giudice offered parenting advice to Rihanna during an interview with E! News. “You are an amazing mom already,” Giudice told Rihanna. “It comes so naturally. Just keep doing what you’re doing, adore your baby every day, and take lots of pictures.”
