WASHINGTON – D.C. Council Chairman Phil Mendelson has confirmed that Councilmember Trayon White was arrested by FBI agents on Sunday afternoon.
Mendelson, in a statement to FOX 5, expressed surprise at the news of White’s arrest, revealing that he was unaware of any ongoing investigation into the councilmember. He noted that he is still awaiting further information about the nature of the charges and the specific location of White’s detention.
“I’m eager to receive more information to fully understand the circumstances surrounding this situation,” Mendelson said in his statement. “At this moment, I have no additional details beyond what has been publicly reported.”
FOX 5 is actively seeking more information about the arrest and the charges against White.
Councilmember White, who represents Ward 8, has been a vocal advocate for community safety amid rising crime levels in his district.
