Zendaya and Robert Pattinson are reportedly in early negotiations to headline A24’s upcoming film The Drama, penned by Dream Scenario director Kristoffer Borgli.
While the plot details remain tightly under wraps, insiders suggest that the film may feature a romance between the two stars, with an intriguing twist leading up to their “big day.” This potential casting marks the second collaboration between A24 and Square Peg, following their successful projects like Hereditary, Midsommar, and the recent Dream Scenario. They also have other anticipated films in the pipeline, such as Death of a Unicorn starring Paul Rudd and Jenna Ortega, and Eddington featuring Joaquin Phoenix, Pedro Pascal, and Emma Stone.
This development caps off an already stellar year for Zendaya, who has captivated audiences with leading roles in Dune: Part Two and Challengers. She is also set to return as Rue Bennett in the third season of HBO’s critically acclaimed series Euphoria, a role that has earned her both Emmy and Golden Globe awards.
As for Pattinson, he is slated to star in the highly anticipated science fiction drama Mickey 17, directed by Bong Joon-ho, set for release in January. His recent notable roles include portraying Bruce Wayne in 2022’s The Batman and lending his voice to the Grey Heron in the English-language dub of Hayao Miyazaki’s The Boy and the Heron.
Variety’s chief film critic, Peter Debruge, praised Borgli’s direction in his review of Dream Scenario, noting the director’s unique ability to blend comedic and sinister tones in his English-language debut for A24.
Zendaya is represented by Monster Talent Management, CAA, and Andre Des Rochers at Granderson Des Rochers. Pattinson is represented by 3 Arts Entertainment, WME, Curtis Brown, and Sloane, Offer, Weber, and Dern. Meanwhile, Square Peg is repped by WME, and Borgli by UTA.
