BTS member Jungkook has secured a nomination for the “MTV Video Music Awards” (MTV VMA) for the third year in a row, solidifying his status as a global pop sensation.
The nominees for the 2024 MTV VMAs were announced on August 6, revealing that Jungkook has been shortlisted in the “Best Collaboration” and “Best K-Pop” categories for his hit song “Seven” featuring Latto.
In the highly competitive “Best Collaboration” category, Jungkook finds himself alongside international heavyweights like Taylor Swift, Post Malone, and Drake, underscoring his global influence in the music industry.
Jungkook’s journey at the MTV VMAs began in 2022 when he became the first Korean solo artist to be nominated in the “Song of the Summer” category for his collaboration with Charlie Puth on “Left and Right.” This year’s nomination marks the third consecutive year he’s been recognized at the VMAs. Last year, Jungkook made history by winning the “Song of the Summer” award with “Seven,” becoming the first Korean solo artist to take home this accolade.
The 2024 MTV VMAs will take place at the UBS Arena in New York on September 10.
Jungkook’s first solo single, “Seven,” released in July last year, quickly became a global sensation. The track topped major music charts, including the U.S. Billboard Hot 100 and the UK Official Singles Chart, where it peaked at third. It also set a record for reaching 1 billion streams on Spotify in the shortest time. As of now, “Seven” has garnered over 1.8 billion streams on the platform, cementing its status as a “super hit.”
