Lisa of BLACKPINK and Jungkook of BTS have earned multiple nominations for the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), underscoring their immense popularity and talent in the global music scene.
The official VMA website announced on August 6 (local time) that Lisa’s solo track “ROCKSTAR” received nominations in four categories: ‘Best K-pop,’ ‘Best Choreography,’ ‘Best Art Direction,’ and ‘Best Editing.’ This recognition highlights Lisa’s versatility and the artistic quality of her work.
Jungkook, another prominent figure in K-pop, garnered two nominations for his song “Seven,” featuring American rapper Latto. His nominations are for ‘Best Collaboration’ and ‘Best K-pop,’ further cementing his influence in the music industry.
Additionally, the rising K-pop group LE SSERAFIM has been nominated for ‘PUSH Performance of the Year’ with their hit “EASY.” This award is presented to an outstanding artist featured in the ‘MTV PUSH’ campaign, which spotlights performance videos each month.
The ‘Best K-pop’ category this year is particularly competitive, featuring Lisa, Jungkook, NCT Dream with “Smoothie,” NewJeans with “Super Shy,” Stray Kids with “Rock,” and Tomorrow X Together with “Deja Vu.”
The 2024 MTV VMAs will take place on September 10 at the UBS Arena in New York, promising an exciting night celebrating the year’s top musical talents.
