A$AP Rocky and Rihanna recently traveled to Barbados to celebrate their son Riot Rose Mayers’ first birthday. A video circulating on social media shows the couple joyfully assisting their son in blowing out the candles on his birthday cake.
In the comments section of the video, fans noted the couple’s choice of a pink cake for the celebration. One user remarked, “She wanted this baby to be a girl so bad…” However, many others quickly defended the couple’s choice. “Who cares what color the cake is!!! Two Black people in love celebrating a healthy one-year-old is a better topic of conversation than the cake being pink,” one fan argued. Another commented, “Don’t worry about why his pink cake was in your bank account now bye.”

In a previous interview with E! News at a Fenty Beauty event in April, Rihanna shared her feelings about being a mother to a boy. “It makes me feel really cool to be the mom of a boy,” she said. “I can be as casual and busty as I want, but it also forces me to embrace the great things about being a woman and my femininity. I embrace it a lot more now, like I wear pink. I go back and forth between wearing sweaters and being like, ‘Today I’m wearing a dress! I’m the only one in this house who can do that right now.'”
