Taylor Swift‘s Eras Tour is on track to make history, with projections indicating it will surpass $2 billion in total revenue. This monumental tour, which has already achieved the unprecedented feat of grossing over $1 billion, is demonstrating remarkable nightly earnings, according to new figures disclosed by Variety.
The 152-date concert series, which showcases highlights from Swift’s expansive 17-year career, is earning an estimated average of $14 million per show. However, some estimates suggest that nightly receipts may reach as high as $17 million, a significant increase from earlier projections by Forbes, which had estimated nightly earnings between $10 million and $13 million.
This estimate does not account for inflated resale ticket prices, which have often exceeded the original cost. Swift has chosen not to benefit from these inflated resale values, maintaining original ticket prices between $230 and $499, with VIP packages reaching up to $899. In addition to the concert revenue, Swift’s merchandise sales have contributed hundreds of millions more to her earnings.
Pollstar editor Andy Gensler praised Swift’s impact on the live music industry, describing her as a groundbreaking figure whose timing was perfect in the post-pandemic era. “Her timing was exquisite,” Gensler noted. “The pandemic created a profound desire for live entertainment, and Swift seized the moment like never before.”
The success of the Eras Tour extends beyond live performances. The film adaptation, released last fall, has grossed over $180 million domestically and $261 million worldwide, surpassing previous records held by Justin Bieber and Michael Jackson.
Despite facing a major setback when Ticketmaster’s system crashed in November 2022 due to overwhelming demand, leading to delays for many fans, the tour’s success has remained unblemished. Swift’s record-breaking day of selling 2 million tickets was marred by issues with the ticketing platform, not by any fault of Swift’s own.
Looking ahead, Swift is already planning her next moves. Reports suggest she is working on new music, potentially for release in 2025, and is considering another tour in 2026. Sources indicate that Swift is crafting new material while on the road, drawing inspiration from her current experiences and addressing potential rivalries, such as her rumored one with Charli XCX.
Swift’s latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, has maintained the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart since its April 19 release. Despite some criticism regarding the release of multiple variant editions to boost sales and streaming figures, the album’s success is undeniable.
As of now, Swift’s Eras Tour is not only setting records but also solidifying her position as a leading force in the music industry. Following Swift, other top-grossing tours globally include Beyoncé, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Coldplay, and Harry Styles, with Swift also leading in North America.
