Iggy Azalea is taking full responsibility for raising her son Onyx, making it clear she’s not relying on anyone else for support.
In a recent appearance on Sony Music Entertainment’s “Dinner’s On Me” podcast, hosted by Jesse Tyler Ferguson, the 34-year-old rapper opened up about her solo parenting journey. During her conversation with the “Modern Family” star, Azalea shared insights into her relationship with her 4-year-old son Onyx, whom she welcomed in 2020 with ex Playboi Carti.
“I’m very much a single mother. I’m very much the only parent, no disrespect, but yes, I am not co-parenting really, and that’s just the reality of it,” Azalea stated. “It’s one, it’s 24/7.”

A representative for Carti did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s request for comment.
As the podcast continued, Azalea reflected on how motherhood has shifted her priorities. She emphasized her desire to be more present in her son’s life, expressing a need to slow down from her hectic schedule.
“I no longer want to be traveling around everywhere. I want to take my son to school. I want him to have memories with me and give him that time,” she explained. “It’s really important to me.”
Azalea credited her own success to her mother’s unwavering support and influence, which she now seeks to replicate for her son. “I owe my success in large part to my mother because she spent so much time with me and she just really gassed me up and made me think I was a superwoman genius, dancer extraordinaire, painter extraordinaire, chef, whatever it was. And it’s important to me, even when my son’s only 4, that I know I’m there, instilling that confidence in him and just helping guide him.”
She continued, “It’s my job as a parent. I think if you’re going to have a child, you should be prepared to do that and engage in that way. And I really want to. I toured two years with my son on a bus and it was time for that to end.”
In April, Azalea shared a series of photos on Instagram from Onyx’s Bluey-themed pool party. The heartwarming post featured the rapper resting her head against her son as they enjoyed the outdoors. Onyx was also pictured sitting on a tiger float, wearing Bluey swimming trunks and goggles. Another photo showed Azalea with friends celebrating Onyx, raising cups featuring Bluey and her sister Bingo.
“Cheers to Onyx,” the devoted mother toasted. “Happy Birthday Onyx, we love you.”
