Newly released court documents allege that Duane Davis, the man charged with the 1996 murder of Tupac Shakur in Las Vegas, implicated Sean “Diddy” Combs in the killing during an interview with Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.
These documents, filed on July 18 by the Clark County District Attorney’s Office, were in response to Davis’ request for bail reconsideration. Judge Carli Kierny is set to decide whether the $112,500 bond Davis posted should be allowed, as prosecutors contend that the funds were obtained through an exclusive interview deal with Davis.

Contained within the nearly 180-page document is previously undisclosed evidence, including a 2009 interview with LVMPD where Davis implicated Combs in financing the shooting.
In a footnote, prosecutors noted: “[Davis] has asserted publicly that he only told on himself and wasn’t trying to provide evidence against anyone else in his conversations with police. However, this statement belies this claim, as he suggested that Sean Combs paid Eric Von Martin a million dollars for the killings as well as offered to set up a surreptitious phone call with Terrence Brown, the driver, who, at the time, was still alive.”
Prosecutors claim that Combs, who headed Bad Boy Records, was in a feud with Suge Knight’s Death Row Records. They allege that Bad Boy Records used the South Side Crips, a rival gang to Death Row-affiliated MOB Piru, for protection on the West Coast.
The documents also include a transcript of Davis’ 2009 interview with detectives, where he stated that Combs, in a room full of people, said, “I would give anything for that dude’s head,” referring to Knight, who was in the vehicle with Shakur during the shooting.
Davis further mentioned that Eric Von Martin, also known as “Zip,” came into sudden wealth years after he and Zip discussed some form of payment from Combs, who was known as “Puffy” at the time.
Davis’ next court hearing is scheduled for August 20, with a tentative trial date set for November.
