A 14-track version of what is purported to be Big Sean‘s upcoming album was leaked online today. The leak was allegedly in retaliation by a Kanye West fan who interpreted a line in a freestyle as a diss towards West.
The controversy began yesterday when Big Sean’s “On the Radar” freestyle was released. The freestyle featured the line, “I got better things to do than find someone to beef with.” Some social media users speculated that this was aimed at Kendrick Lamar. However, media personality DJ Hed later tweeted that he spoke with Big Sean, who clarified that the line was not intended for Lamar but rather a “different Gemini.”
This led to speculation that the line was aimed at Kanye West, who is also a Gemini and played a significant role in launching Sean’s career. The two have had recent friction, notably after West claimed in 2021 that signing Sean was “the worst thing I’ve ever done.” In response, a user named bigseandon811, who took offense to the perceived slight, claimed that West himself instructed him to leak the album in its entirety. “Since he wanna disrespect Ye so much, here’s the album,” the user wrote. “Fuck him and his whole team.” The user then posted 14 tracks, which Variety was able to locate.
Representatives for Big Sean did not immediately respond to Variety’s requests for comment.
The leaked album begins with the track “Nintendo Switch Superstar,” featuring a sample of Willie Hutch’s “Mack’s Stroll (The Getaway),” previously used by Usher for his 2004 track “Superstar.” Nas is featured on “Poor Sportsmanship,” Charlie Wilson appears on “BTC (Lift Them Boys Up),” and Brent Faiyaz is believed to be featured on “Raining P’s.”
Although the album did not sound entirely finished, with some tracks containing empty space for potential new verses, Sean acknowledged the alleged leak hours after it surfaced. “Might as well start droppin, before they leak it all, god damn,” he wrote on social media, teasing a new song produced by Alchemist.
The album’s title remains unclear. The leaker referred to it as “Feelings & Random Thots” and mentioned an alternative title, “Better Me Than You.” It has been four years since Sean released a full album, with “Detroit 2” in 2020 followed by the EP “What You Expect” with Hit-Boy in 2021. That same year, he parted ways with West’s G.O.O.D. Music label after 14 years.
