In this week’s penultimate episode of Season 5 of The Kardashians, Kourtney Kardashian arrives in Sydney, Australia, accompanied by her children Penelope, Reign, and newborn Rocky. The trip, however, was marred by the absence of her teenage son, Mason.

Kourtney joined her husband Travis Barker on the Australian leg of his band Blink-182’s tour. “I am in Australia, we made it. We’ve been having the best time,” Kourtney shared. “Travis is touring to different cities in Australia for about a week, but because I was on bedrest before, and then having a newborn at home, I haven’t really had any outings with my other kids, so really I wanted to stay in Sydney,” she said during a confessional.

Footage showed Kourtney and her children trying to play tennis, with Reign screaming when the ball came near him. Notably absent from the family activities was her 14-year-old son Mason, who stayed home with his father, Scott Disick. “Mason is home with his dad, which makes me really sad, but I’m making the most of every second,” Kourtney admitted.

In a previous episode, Kim Kardashian attempted to persuade Mason to join the trip by highlighting the exciting experiences Australia had to offer, but her efforts were in vain. Despite this, the family found joy in their adventures.

Reign was seen feeding a horse a carrot, while Kourtney asked him and Penelope about their favorite and least favorite parts of Australia. “My favorite part is the ice cream,” Reign said, adding that it “sucks for a favorite” as he hoped to enjoy a roller coaster ride, which Kourtney promised for the next day.

Penelope mentioned her favorite experience was going to the beach, but her least favorite was hearing about a shark attack, making her wary of the water. Reign, however, dismissed her concern, stating, “Eh, who cares, one person were gonna get bit, I’ll take the risk.”

The family’s nanny, Allie Garcia, asked Kourtney about her own highlights and low points of the trip. Kourtney responded, “My peak, probably hanging out at Miranda’s. I felt like I learned so much from her mom on the traditions that I want to keep in my house now with the kids, like how the mom is always cooking and taking care of everyone.”

Allie added, “The son was so like helpful,” to which Kourtney replied, “And like they all do the dishes together. My pit was the spider.”

The show then cut to footage of a large spider crawling across a white wall. “So the only reason I could never move to Australia is for the spiders,” Kourtney confessed. “I look for spiders everywhere,” she told her kids and Allie, adding in confession, “It’s just terrifying and it’s just not the way I wanna live my life.”

Despite the fun and bonding experiences, Kourtney’s sadness over Mason’s absence cast a shadow over the otherwise joyful family trip.
