South African singer Tyla Seethal has made the difficult decision to postpone her upcoming tour, including highly anticipated dates in London, citing a worsening injury that has impacted her health.
The 22-year-old artist, known for her chart-topping hit “Water” which was nominated for international song of the year at the Brit Awards, was scheduled to kick off her tour in Oslo, Norway on March 21, with plans to traverse Europe, London, and North America.
In a heartfelt Instagram announcement on Thursday, Tyla expressed deep sadness over having to delay her performances, revealing that a year-long struggle with an injury has taken a turn for the worse despite consultations with medical experts.
“For the past year, I’ve been silently suffering with an injury that has tragically worsened,” she shared. “I’ve seen doctors and specialists with high hopes but the pain has only become more agonising as has the severity of the situation.”
Acknowledging the impact on her career, Tyla emphasized the necessity of prioritizing her long-term health and safety, stating, “Continuing any festival or tour dates would jeopardise my long-term health and safety.”
She reassured her fans of her dedication to returning to the stage once fully recovered, promising a spectacular show this summer.
Tyla, also known as Tyla Seethal, expressed gratitude to her supporters for their unwavering encouragement throughout her journey. She concluded her message by assuring ticket holders of forthcoming updates on refunds and future performances.
Originally slated to perform at Koko in London on April 1 and 2, Tyla remains scheduled for the Wireless festival on July 14, continuing to build on her success after breaking through the UK charts with “Water.”
Messages of support poured in from fellow artists, including Swedish singer Zara Larsson, who sent her best wishes: “You’ll come back even bigger and better!! Get well.”
Tyla’s self-titled debut album is anticipated for release later this month, further marking her ascent in the music industry.
