It has been a year since Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce first attended Taylor Swift‘s Eras Tour, sparking the beginning of their now famous relationship.
On July 8, 2023, Kelce, 34, watched Swift’s concert at Arrowhead Stadium, the home of his football team. The pair, both 34, have since become a hot topic, with their dating rumors taking off several months later.
Before Swift’s performance that day, she shared a Fourth of July celebration on Instagram, held at her Rhode Island home with friends Selena Gomez, Este, Danielle, and Alana Haim, Ashley Avignone, and Sydney Ness. She captioned her post, “Happy belated Independence Day from your local neighborhood independent girlies,” and added, “See you tonight Kansas Cityyy.”
At the Kansas City show, Kelce was seen in a private booth, exchanging friendship bracelets with fans. However, he missed the chance to give one to Swift herself. Weeks later, on his podcast “New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce,” he revealed he had tried to meet Swift backstage and had made her a bracelet with his phone number on it. “I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings,” Kelce said, joking that he was “a little butthurt” by his failed attempt.
Swift, who had split with longtime boyfriend Joe Alwyn three months prior, found Kelce’s efforts charming. In a December TIME profile, she reflected on the beginning of their relationship: “This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell. We started hanging out right after that.”
Their budding romance was confirmed weeks later when Swift returned to Arrowhead Stadium to watch Kelce play. The couple shared a public kiss when the Chiefs won the 2024 Super Bowl against the San Francisco 49ers.
Kelce has since supported Swift by attending several more Eras Tour dates in Europe, South America, and Asia. In a full-circle moment, Kelce even made his debut on the Eras Tour stage in London, joining Swift’s background dancers and showing off his dance moves to the Wembley crowd.
