Disney has kept much of the plot under wraps, but revealed that the sequel picks up years after Anna and Tess’s unforgettable body swap, now exploring the challenges of merging two families. With Anna navigating life with her own daughter and soon-to-be stepdaughter, the stage is set for another round of comedic chaos and heartfelt revelations.
The announcement came with a buzz as a photo of Lohan and Curtis was shared on social media platform X (formerly Twitter), captioned “The Colemans are back!” Fans can expect a star-studded cast including Mark Harmon, Chad Michael Murray, Christina Vidal Mitchell, and more, along with new additions Julia Butters, Manny Jacinto, Maitreyi Ramakrishnan, and Sophia Hammons.
Lohan and Curtis had teased a potential sequel for years, following their memorable 2003 performance in the modern remake of “Freaky Friday,” based on Mary Rodgers’ 1972 novel. The original film, a remake of the 1976 classic, starred Jodie Foster and Barbara Harris.
Director Nisha Ganatra, known for her work on “The High Note” and “Late Night,” is at the helm of this highly anticipated sequel. Jamie Lee Curtis had personally campaigned for the sequel, expressing her enthusiasm on “The View” in October 2022.
