In a 2022 interview with Breakfast Club, 50 Cent recounted an incident where Beyoncé sprang to Jay-Z’s defense upon seeing him approach the Brooklyn MC, aware of their history.
Another similar incident occurred at a party, as revealed by comedian Tiffany Haddish. At the event hosted by Beyoncé and Jay-Z, an unnamed actor made a bold move on Jay-Z, prompting Beyoncé to assertively intervene.
Haddish recalled, “I talked to Jay-Z a bit, and there was another actress there who was also talking to Jay-Z. She touched Jay-Z’s chest, and Beyoncé walked up and made her stance clear. She started talking to the actress, and some things went down.”
It seems Haddish herself is not one to shy away from standing up for her friends. “I’m not allowed to spill the details of that party, but Beyoncé told me to have fun, and I said, ‘No, I might have to fight this person someday,’” Haddish added.
Jay-Z and Beyoncé have faced their own struggles in maintaining their relationship, with longstanding rumors of Jay-Z’s infidelity shadowing their journey. Beyoncé’s album “Lemonade” alludes to these challenges, though Jay-Z has never confirmed the rumors outright.
In an interview with The New York Times, Jay-Z reflected on their tribulations, admitting, “You know, most people leave, and the divorce rate is like 50% or something because most people can’t see themselves. The hardest thing is seeing the pain on someone’s face that you caused and then having to deal with it yourself.”
Despite the turbulence, Jay-Z expressed pride in Beyoncé’s artistic expression through “Lemonade” and emphasized their mutual respect for each other’s work.
Originally planning a joint album exploring their marriage, they ended up releasing solo projects due to Beyoncé’s creative direction. Jay-Z explained, “We used our art almost like a therapy session. We started making music together, but her album took on a life of its own.”
