Hollywood legend Jane Fonda reportedly cautioned Jennifer Lopez about adapting her romance with Ben Affleck into a film. This warning came as Lopez was working on her music documentary, “The Greatest Love Story Never Told,” which delves into her relationship with Affleck.
Fonda expressed her concern that the couple might be trying too hard to “prove something” about their rekindled romance. “It feels like you’re trying to prove something instead of just living it,” Fonda reportedly told Lopez. “Every other photograph is the two of you kissing or hugging.”
Two years into their marriage, rumors of divorce have begun to circulate, suggesting that Lopez and Affleck’s relationship might be on the rocks. Fonda’s warnings seem prescient as reports indicate that the couple is facing significant challenges.
Fonda’s concerns were shared when Lopez approached her to star in her documentary. According to the Daily Mail, the 90-minute film includes a phone call where Fonda elaborates on her reservations. Released in February, this film is part of a three-part project exploring Lopez’s breakup and reunion with Affleck.
Fonda and Lopez first met while filming the 2005 romantic comedy “Monster-in-Law.” Despite her initial reluctance, Fonda eventually accepted a cameo role in Lopez’s documentary.
Fonda’s fears were exacerbated by an incident at the Grammy Awards in March 2023, where Affleck appeared bored, leading to public speculation about their relationship. Fonda admitted, “I got real scared with all that stuff about the Grammys. He looked unhappy, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, what’s happening?'”
Lopez responded to these concerns by explaining that they are trying to navigate their differences. “It’s sort of like marrying a boat captain and then saying, ‘I don’t like the water.’ We’re just two people with different approaches trying to learn to compromise,” Lopez said.
Despite these efforts, divorce rumors have intensified. Affleck has reportedly moved out of their $60 million Los Angeles home, while Lopez remains. The house is back on the market, and the couple is reportedly house hunting separately.
Lopez’s recent Instagram tribute to Affleck for Father’s Day, calling him “Our Hero,” has not quelled the rumors. It remains unclear if they spent the day together, as Lopez was seen visiting Affleck on Saturday, while his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner, visited him on Sunday.
