There’s no animosity between Charli XCX and Taylor Swift, despite some passionate fan reactions.
The Brat singer defended Swift after a fan at her São Paulo show chanted “Taylor is dead,” which she swiftly addressed on her Instagram Story: “Can the people who do this please stop? It is the opposite of what I want and disturbs me that anyone would think there is room for this in this community. I will not tolerate it.”
Charli XCX has always been appreciative of Swift, especially since opening for her on the 2018 Reputation Stadium Tour, calling Swift “one of the biggest artists of my generation.” Recently, speculation arose over whether Charli’s new album, Brat, includes references to Swift in the track ‘Sympathy Is a Knife,’ though it’s not intended as a diss track.
Meanwhile, fans have speculated about Swift’s strategic timing of deluxe reissues of The Tortured Poets Department, possibly aimed at securing the UK albums chart’s top spot over Charli’s Brat.
Despite these conjectures, it’s clear Charli XCX holds Swift in high regard, emphasizing unity among fans and a strong bond within the music community.
