Lizzo is back, and she just rocked Saturday Night Live like never before!
The 36-year-old superstar hit the SNL stage on April 12 as the musical guest, with Mad Men star Jon Hamm hosting the episode. And let’s just say—Lizzo did not come to play.
For her first performance of the night, she wowed the crowd with a powerful medley of “Love in Real Life” and “Still Bad”—two fresh tracks from her upcoming album, Love in Real Life.
She looked fierce in a glittery jacket, shorts, and a cropped tee that read “TARRIFIED”—a cheeky jab at former President Donald Trump’s administration. The moment was bold, funny, and totally Lizzo.
Later in the show, she came back with the emotional ballad “Don’t Make Me Love You,” showing off her softer side and powerful vocals. The performance had fans buzzing, and it’s safe to say her new album is one of the most anticipated of the year.
“ALBUM IS DONE Y’ALL!” Lizzo recently posted on Instagram, along with a studio pic that had fans cheering in the comments.
This appearance marks Lizzo’s return to SNL after previous performances in December 2019 and December 2022. She even pulled double duty in April 2022, serving as both the host and the musical guest. Talk about talent!
But Lizzo isn’t just making waves in music—she’s also stepping into the acting world. She recently landed her first lead movie role as the legendary rock star Sister Rosetta Tharpe, and she’s thrilled.
“I’m so excited and honored,” she said about the role.
Lizzo has been in the game for over a decade. Her debut album Lizzobangers came out in 2013, followed by Big Grrrl Small World (2015), Cuz I Love You (2019), and Special (2022). She even contributed the track “Pink” to Barbie the Album, part of the hit 2023 Barbie movie soundtrack.
While her career keeps soaring, Lizzo is also facing challenges. She’s currently involved in a legal case brought by three former backup dancers. The dancers filed a lawsuit in August 2023, accusing Lizzo and her team of harassment and workplace issues.
Lizzo tried to have the lawsuit dismissed in February 2024, but the judge denied it. Still, she says her recent break from the spotlight wasn’t because of the lawsuit—it was something she planned for her own mental health.
“I had to protect my peace,” she shared in an interview with Jay Shetty on his On Purpose podcast.
Love in Real Life is coming soon, and if her SNL performances are any clue, the album is going to be full of big energy, bold moments, and heartfelt music.
Until then, fans can keep rewatching her incredible SNL performances and counting down the days until Lizzo drops her next big hit.
