Looks like love is in the air — but wedding bells? Not just yet.
Melanie Hamrick, a retired ballerina and author, has finally confirmed what many fans have guessed for a while now: she and Rolling Stones legend Mick Jagger are engaged! In a recent interview with the French magazine Paris Match, Melanie spilled the tea — and it’s been steeping for years.
“We’ve been engaged two or three years,” the 37-year-old shared, adding that while they’re happy together, they’re not rushing down the aisle. “Maybe one day we’ll marry, maybe not,” she said. “We are so happy in our current life that I would be too afraid to change anything.”
Now that’s what we call a chill power couple.
No Big Drama, Just Big Love
Melanie and 81-year-old Mick Jagger first met back in 2014 while both were on tour in Tokyo — her with the American Ballet Theatre and him with, of course, the Rolling Stones. Melanie and her friends got backstage passes to a Stones concert, and that’s where she met the rock icon.
Was it love at first sight? Not exactly.
“Maybe a spark, but nothing incredible,” she said, laughing. “Like, ‘Come on, I’ll blow your mind and we’ll travel the world.’” In fact, they didn’t even swap phone numbers that night.
But just four months later, Jagger invited her to meet up in Zurich. Things quickly turned romantic — and the rest, as they say, is history.
The Ring That Sparked Questions
Fans started buzzing in 2023 when Melanie showed up at an event for her debut novel First Position wearing a massive diamond ring. When asked if it was that kind of ring, she played it cool.
“Did Mick give me the ring? Yes. Is it for that finger? Yes,” she admitted to PEOPLE. “But are we like, horny teenagers where we’re giving each other… In my mind, it’s a promise ring. We’ll be immature and call it a promise ring.”
Spoiler alert: it was more than a promise ring.
A Rock-Solid Relationship
So, what’s the secret to their long-lasting love?
“We try to support each other, be there for each other, and make sure everyone is happy,” Melanie told Paris Match. “That’s all that matters to me and all I strive for.”
And it’s not just about the romance — Melanie and Mick have also worked together. In 2019, they teamed up on a ballet called Porte Rouge, which combined her choreography with his iconic music. She says it was a great experience, but she prefers to keep work and love separate.
“You’re working with the person all day, and then you’re with them at night. It’s like, too much of each other,” she told PEOPLE. “It’s nice to have outside opinions — someone that isn’t in it with you.”
A Little Rockstar in the Making
In 2016, the couple welcomed their son, Deveraux Octavian Basil Jagger. And yes — the little guy already has rhythm.
“He dances a ton,” Melanie told The New York Times. “He plays the ukulele and makes up songs. He’s got the gene. Definitely.” Her only wish? That he picks up tap dancing soon. “For a little boy to make some noise with his feet? He’d love it.”
So…Will There Be a Wedding?
Melanie’s answer? Maybe. Maybe not.
While she and Mick are officially engaged, it doesn’t sound like they’re racing to say “I do.” They’re just enjoying life, love, and music — no wedding planning stress required.
