Ryan Adams’ Belfast Concert Ends In Chaos As Fans Worry About His Health

Ryan Adams, the 50-year-old singer-songwriter, caused a stir during his recent Belfast concert as he stormed off stage amid an uncomfortable performance that left fans questioning his well-being.

Currently on his Heartbreakers tour, celebrating the 25th anniversary of his celebrated album, Adams’ appearance in Belfast on Friday night was less than stellar.

Concertgoers took to social media to share their shock, describing the show as a “trainwreck.” One fan on Reddit recalled, “He was a rambling mess… a slow-motion car crash,” adding that Adams abruptly left the stage after being disturbed by a camera flash.

Known to suffer from Ménière’s disease, a condition that affects the inner ear and heightens sensitivity to light and sound, Adams was reportedly in discomfort due to a camera flash, despite prior requests to the crowd to refrain from flash photography.

The crowd’s reaction was divided, with some fans expressing disappointment over the performance, particularly the second half, which was expected to feature Adams’ greatest hits. “Someone from his crew should’ve intervened,” one concertgoer stated, while another criticized the performance, saying, “Out of time, bum notes, incoherent versions of songs. It was honestly one of the worst shows I’ve ever seen. Regret going.”

A third fan, frustrated with the atmosphere, described the event as “a complete disaster” and accused Adams of acting like a “narcissist.” Other attendees chose to leave early, feeling the concert was too uncomfortable to continue. “It was a weird and uncomfortable gig all around,” said one fan, noting that Adams restarted multiple songs and seemed visibly disoriented.

Despite the chaotic nature of the show, some fans found a silver lining in the “Heartbreaker” set, describing it as a highlight amidst the turmoil. However, the overall consensus was one of confusion and concern for the singer’s health.

Ryan Adams is scheduled to perform in Dublin on Sunday and Monday before taking a month-long break. The singer, who previously postponed his solo tour in 2023 due to health problems, had shared on Instagram that sobriety was key to his recovery, following a period of intense personal struggles.

As fans await Adams’ next performance, many are left wondering whether the issues in Belfast were an isolated incident or a sign of ongoing health challenges.
