Britney Spears’ 2001 Concert Outfit Hits Big, Selling For $78k At Auction

Britney Spears‘ unforgettable 2001 concert ensemble has just made a major splash at auction. The iconic outfit, originally designed by Bob Mackie for the 1981 Las Vegas stage production Jubilee!, was featured in the Bold Luxury: The Limelight Edit event by Julien’s Auctions, which kicked off on Thursday, March 27.

The four-piece set, worn by Spears during her Dream Within a Dream Tour, was featured in promotional photos and seen on stage during her performance of “Baby One More Time…” at an HBO concert special in November 2001. The set fetched an astonishing $78,000 over the weekend, while the reproduction jeans Spears wore went for a solid $2,925.

The crystal-studded bra, undergarments, and armbands are crafted with French wirework and a blush fabric, creating a nude illusion. The set features stone details, with drops at the under-bust and waistline for added glamour.

“These Britney Spears items are incredible,” says Martin Nolan, co-founder of Julien’s Auctions. “The jeans were designed by an up-and-coming designer, Corbin Struck, and match the original ones Britney wore.”

Spears herself reflected on her Dream Within a Dream Tour in her 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me. “It was my fourth tour and one of my favorites,” she wrote. “The minds behind that tour were brilliant. It was by far my best tour.”

Bold Luxury: The Limelight Edit also featured iconic outfits from fashion legends like Cher, Elizabeth Taylor, and Marilyn Monroe. Cher’s stage-worn If I Could Turn Back Time ensemble went for an impressive $162,500 at the same event.
