Selena Gomez knows she can always count on Taylor Swift for an unfiltered opinion—especially when it comes to music!
During a recent chat with reporter Emily Curl, Gomez opened up about her longtime friendship with Swift and how much she values her support.
“Taylor Swift gave you the ultimate shout-out over the weekend,” Curl said, referring to Swift’s public praise for Gomez’s latest album. “How did it feel seeing that and seeing her support?”
Gomez couldn’t help but gush. “You know with Taylor, I value her support and her opinion so much because she’s super honest,” she shared.
Over the weekend, Swift proved just how much she adores Gomez’s music. She posted the cover of “I Said I Love You First” to her Instagram story, screaming her love for the album. “I LOVE THIS ALBUM SO MUCH OH MY GODDDDDDDDDDDD,” she wrote. Classic Swift enthusiasm!
Gomez, who was promoting her emotionally packed album created with fiancé Benny Blanco, admitted that she always sends her songs to Swift before releasing them.
“I have always played her—off any of my albums—the top two I like, just to see what she thinks,” Gomez revealed.
And Swift never holds back! After nearly 20 years of friendship, Gomez says her bestie’s feedback is brutally honest. Some songs get a simple “OK”, while others are total “knockouts.”
One moment that will always stick with Gomez? Playing Swift “Lose You to Love Me” before its release. Swift and her mom, Andrea, instantly teared up—then Gomez started crying too. “It’s very sweet,” she recalled.
