Gracie Abrams’ Emotional Night: A Taylor Swift Tribute, Star-Studded Ovations & Pure Fangirl Energy!

by Coco

Gracie Abrams just proved she’s the ultimate “girl’s girl” at the 2025 Billboard Women in Music awards! The singer-songwriter took over the YouTube Theater in Inglewood on Saturday, hyping up her fellow female artists all night long.

Before even accepting her own award, Abrams hit the stage to perform her viral TikTok hit “I’m Sorry, I Love You.” Then, when she was honored as Songwriter of the Year, she turned the spotlight to R&B superstar Victoria Monét, who introduced her.

“First of all, Victoria Monét, everyone!” Abrams gushed onstage. “She’s an insane writer, an unparalleled vocalist, an inventive producer, and a dancer. I’m in awe of you!” Talk about a queen supporting queens moment!

Dressed in a stunning Chanel gown, Abrams looked every bit the star on the blue carpet—but skipped press interviews, keeping her focus on the evening’s powerful female talent.

Once on stage, Abrams admitted she was “gobsmacked” to be named Songwriter of the Year but quickly shifted gears to honor the one and only Taylor Swift—and the crowd went wild.

“I’ll never stop pinching myself,” Abrams said, getting emotional. “I’ll never stop thanking her for the gift of her pen, which very much raised me.”

The lovefest didn’t stop there! Throughout the night, Abrams played proud fangirl, recording performances like a concert mom and jumping to her feet for every standing ovation.

She was seen vibing to Tyla’s electrifying performance of “PUSH 2 START” after the South African star accepted her Impact Award. Then, she kept the energy up as Ángela Aguilar honored her Mexican roots with a mariachi-backed rendition of “Cielito Lindo.”

And when Erykah Badu took the stage after receiving the Icon Award? Abrams was right there—dancing along with the entire crowd.

The night wasn’t just about music—it was filled with heartwarming moments too. After calling out some of the most important women in her life during her speech, Abrams immediately returned to her seat and pulled her best friend and collaborator, Aubrey Hobert, into a long embrace. Then, she turned to hug her mom, Katie McGrath, sealing the night with a perfect full-circle moment.

Abrams’ star keeps rising! After a whirlwind 2024—touring 54 cities, opening for Swift’s record-breaking Eras Tour, and scoring her first Grammy nomination—she’s showing no signs of slowing down.

“Songwriting is wild,” she reflected on stage. “Sometimes it’s wildly embarrassing, wildly informative, like a drug. It’s our prose and our poetry, our private diary entries, and our loudest clarion calls.”

For Abrams, it’s also a way of life—and one that continues to bring her closer to her biggest inspirations.
