Michael Bublé’s Sneaky Steal: How He Snatched Simone Marijic at the Last Second on The Voice

by Coco

Michael Bublé knows exactly when to make his move.

During the thrilling March 24 episode of The Voice, the suave Canadian crooner pulled off a dramatic last-second steal, nabbing Simone Marijic from Team Kelsea after she was left without a spot following the battle round.

Marijic went head-to-head with Iris Herrera in a stirring duet of Lizzy McAlpine’s Ceilings. When it was time for coach Kelsea Ballerini, 31, to make her choice, she ultimately picked Herrera as the winner.

“I chose Iris because she truly understands her voice and knows how to highlight its unique qualities,” the Peter Pan singer explained.

As host Carson Daly opened the floor for a potential steal, Marijic expressed her gratitude to Ballerini, saying, “Every piece of advice you’ve given me will stay with me because I don’t feel like I’ve shown everything I can do yet.” The moment was so heartfelt that Ballerini rushed to the stage to give her a warm hug.

But just as Marijic was about to exit, Bublé, 49, seized the opportunity, hitting his steal button at the very last second—leaving Marijic in total shock.

“Simone absolutely deserved that steal, and I’m thrilled it was Michael who took her,” Ballerini later shared. “She has a cool, classic quality to her voice that I think he can help refine.”

Bublé’s perfectly timed move didn’t go unnoticed. Fellow coaches John Legend and Adam Levine playfully called him out for waiting until the very last moment, with Daly adding, “You waited so long!”

Unfazed, Bublé had the perfect response: “This is my second season. What I’ve learned is—I know what I want, and I know how to get good ratings.”

In a post-show interview, the Feeling Good singer revealed he had been hoping for the chance to steal Marijic all along. “She’s young, she’s got an incredible work ethic, and I truly believe she’s a dark horse in this competition. She could win The Voice.”

As for Marijic, she was overwhelmed with gratitude. “I feel so blessed. Thank you, Michael, for taking a chance on me,” she said, beaming.

The battle rounds continue on Monday, March 31, at 8 p.m. ET on NBC—so who will be the next contestant to get a shocking steal?
