Lady Gaga is set to make a highly anticipated appearance in Season 2 of Netflix’s Addams Family spinoff Wednesday, and star Jenna Ortega couldn’t be more excited.
“It’s the best. She’s the best. Definitely one of the most talented individuals I’ve ever worked with,” Ortega shared with IndieWire at SXSW. “Being there with her and Tim [Burton] was truly special. They’re both people I respect and who have inspired me so much.”
Ortega went on to rave about Gaga’s down-to-earth nature. “Then just finding out she’s such a sweetheart—kind, reserved—it’s very strange. You expect so much from her, but you always get kindness and generosity in return.”
While Gaga’s exact role in Wednesday remains under wraps, she recently shared her excitement about joining the show. “I don’t want to give away anything about being part of the show,” Gaga told Entertainment Weekly. “I want to keep it extra secret—but I love Jenna, and I had an amazing time!”
Gaga’s connection to Wednesday goes back to the first season when a scene featuring Ortega’s iconic dance was paired with Gaga’s “Bloody Mary” and went viral on TikTok. Fans, including Gaga herself, couldn’t resist joining the trend.
Ortega recalled her personal connection to Gaga before all the Wednesday excitement. “Funny enough, a while ago, I worked with a hairdresser who had worked with Gaga. The hairdresser got Gaga to make a video for me saying she heard I was a fan,” Ortega revealed. “She made me a sweet video, and I don’t think she remembers. But to see her now, joining in on this… it’s one of those moments where you realize life changes fast.”
Wednesday, which follows the eccentric teenage daughter of the Addams Family at Nevermore Academy, returns with new twists and surprises this season.
