Nobody wears heartbreak quite like Gabito Ballesteros.
The rising Mexican music star has just unveiled the music video for his latest single, “Perdido” (Spanish for “lost”), and it’s already tugging at heartstrings everywhere. Premiering exclusively with PEOPLE on March 6, the song is Ballesteros’ most personal yet, diving deep into themes of love, loss, and emotional turmoil.
“‘Perdido’ is one of the most personal songs I’ve ever released. It’s about the feeling of being lost in heartbreak, trying to escape the pain but realizing that nothing truly fills the void,” the 25-year-old singer-songwriter shared exclusively with PEOPLE.
Ballesteros continued, “I wanted to capture that raw emotion — the loneliness, the regret, and the struggle to move on.”
The music video is a stunningly emotional portrayal of heartbreak. Set in a dimly lit room filled with red roses and grand chandeliers, Ballesteros sits alone at a table, nursing a drink as he pours his soul into the melancholic lyrics. Dressed in a sleek black suit, he delivers a powerful performance as he dramatically sets a bouquet of roses ablaze—a symbolic gesture representing the pain of lost love.
Watching the flowers burn to ashes, Ballesteros stares into the flames, bringing the sorrowful lyrics to life. Every detail in the video is carefully crafted to reflect the emotions behind the song.
“Bringing ‘Perdido’ to life with this music video was an emotional experience,” he revealed. “The roses, the dim lighting, and the burning bouquet all symbolize the pain and passion behind the song. I hope fans can feel the depth of the story when they watch it.”
Ballesteros is no stranger to the spotlight. The gifted singer-songwriter has already made a name for himself, co-writing hits like “Lady Gaga” and “Presidente.” His debut album, The GB, released in May last year, peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard Regional Mexican Albums chart. He’s also collaborated with some of the biggest names in Latin music, including Peso Pluma, Becky G, Natanael Cano, Grupo Frontera, Junior H, and Piso 21.
Most recently, he teamed up with Tito Double P for the hit single “7 Días,” which currently holds the No. 1 spot on the Spotify Weekly Top Songs Mexico chart.
With “Perdido,” Ballesteros proves once again why he’s one of the most compelling voices in the industry. The song is out now—watch the music video and feel the heartbreak for yourself!
