Jennifer Hudson’s courtside date night with Common took an unexpected turn when she was hit in the face by a stray basketball during the New York Knicks vs. Golden State Warriors game on March 4.
As Knicks player Miles McBride lost control of the ball, it flew straight toward Hudson, knocking her glasses askew. The moment, captured on live TV, sparked immediate reactions from commentators and fans.
“Protect Jennifer Hudson!” a commentator shouted as the ball hit her, with another joking, “Oh no, not the glasses. Those look real expensive, too.”
Common and McBride quickly checked on the EGOT winner. While the rapper-actor attempted to shield her, a replay revealed he wasn’t quite fast enough. “Did he protect her? No, no he didn’t,” a commentator teased.
Hudson, 43, and Common, 52, have been publicly dating since January 2024 but first sparked romance rumors in 2022. They recently collaborated on Hudson’s holiday album, where she praised Common’s musical genius.
Despite the unexpected courtside mishap, Hudson appeared to take the moment in stride, adjusting her glasses and continuing to enjoy the game with Common by her side.
